Captain America: The Winter Soldier Casting Female Lead

With production planning to begin in March 2013, Marvel Studios' is working on casting a new female lead for Captain America: The Winter SoldierDeadline has an alleged short list of five actresses reading for the part and suggests that Scarlett Johansson will also appear as Black Widow.

Though the new female character is not yet confirmed, it is said to be a romantic interest to Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. Fans of the comics know that the odds point to the role being that of Sharon Carter. Originally the sister of Peggy Carter (played in Captain America: The First Avenger by Hayley Atwell), Sharon was later retconned to be Peggy's niece.

The list of names includes Jessica Brown Findlay ("Downton Abbey"), Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones"), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Imogen Poots (Fright Night) and Alison Brie (The Five-Year Engagement).

Brie has actually worked with directors Anthony and Joe Russo before as, between them, they've helmed over two dozen episodes of "Community."

Whoever is cast will join Evans as Rogers and Anthony Mackie, cast in the role of Sam "Falcon" Wilson.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set for release on April 4, 2014.

Hmm... I Wonder if they'll mention Black Widow's KGB Agency... (Or will they follow cartoon continuity and go with her working for Hydra)

black widow makes sense cause she 's winter soldier's love interest. and i now realize that here sharon is peggy's niece, in that case i choose allison brie cause she's the oldest and makes more sense since the rest were born in the late 80s.

don't want teresa palmer, i like allison brie, but she might looks to young compared to chris evans (but it would be cool if she got the part), then again alot of these actresses are a bit young compared to chris and sharon carter is supposed to be the grandaughter of peggy so i suppose a sharon carter in her early to mid 20s makes sense.
